Kreig LLC’s Corpus Christi office handles probate disputes. That means will contests, executors and administrators who will not account or distribute, trustees who are using trust money for themselves, and families who cannot agree on who inherited.
Nueces County does not have a statutory probate court. Probate cases go to the county courts at law, which Government Code Section 25.1801 creates and which hear other kinds of cases too. The Nueces County District Clerk serves as clerk of those courts in probate cases under Government Code Section 25.1802(n), so that is where filings and cause numbers come from.
The office also takes cases in San Patricio, Kleberg, Aransas and Jim Wells counties.
We take contested estate, trust and guardianship matters, and estates that need court supervision.
Contested probate cases are won on records and testimony, so we start collecting both early. That usually means bank and brokerage statements, medical records from the period when the will was signed, the drafting attorney’s file, and the names of everyone who was in the room. We prepare clients and witnesses before every hearing, including hearings held by video, and we get exhibits on file before the hearing date.
The kinds of disputes we handle are described on the practice pages. Directions to the office at 710 Buffalo St., Suite 802, are on the contact page.
Tell us what happened and who controls the estate’s money now. We will tell you whether the dispute belongs in a Nueces County court at law and whether this office is the right fit. The first conversation is short and free.
